During my travels across Iceland this past week, we found ourselves exploring a breathtaking property out on the eastern side of the island. Walking across the land, looking at the rolling hills and flourishing woodlands, you could not help but be filled with sheer awe at the presence of the trees.
After returning, I met with the remarkable woman behind our Icelandic remedies, Kristbjörg Elín, an experienced yoga teacher who has guided students in Reykjavik, as well as Virginia in the US. She mentioned that the very farm we had visited once belonged to her. When she first arrived there, the land was bare, with not a single tree in sight. Over the years, across more than a hundred acres, she planted over 1.3 million trees.

This is the vast and immense Greenland Ice Sheet covering the entire interior of Greenland!
Where we crossed the West coast of Greenland the land, mountains and rocks were icy and barren. The Vikings actually settled farther North in more fertile, protected and warmer regions!
